A bang and a flash of light
a surge of heat felt throughout
the night.
Then is starts
droplets big at first
warm, slow steady.
Faster it comes down
in a steady stream
the wind picks up
the crackling of the
skies grow more fierce
Oh how I love a good
rain storm.
I enjoy rain storms too, and like the way you create a feel for the atmosphere through your 55!
ReplyDeleteWell you had better make your way over to Yorkshire here in UK - yep! Tis grim here!
ReplyDeleteMy 55 is up too.

ReplyDeleteway to start it with a bang...i like that...and kinda glad my storm has come to an end...too many days ina row...nice 55.
ReplyDeleteme as well - rain storms are fantastic and inspire most poets...smiles...stormy 55!
ReplyDeleteI remember a summmer thunderstorm that rolled in just before sundown. I was sitting on the porch of a cabin in the woods. The wind blew mightily and the rain poured down. Thunder clapped deafeningly as the intermittent flashes of lightning strobe-lit the surrounding forest in nightmarish on/off flickering of sudden blinding white followed by instant blackness. I was a bit scary at times, but thrilling.
ReplyDeleteYou've done a great job describing a storm. I really like a good storm with all the drama too.
ReplyDeleteI close my eyes are feel as if I am there. I share your love of the rain. Guess that is why I live in the Pac NW. Great 55.
ReplyDeleteMy 55 is HERE .
Love storms. Good to see you back with the 55 gang.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest with you, I love storms! I love rainstorms, as long as they don't tamper with the TV reception or as long as I don't get too wet. Wanna see my 55er? It's at http://thelunaticsdiary.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteCan't beat good storm! Excellent descriptive piece.
ReplyDeleteNice and appreciable poetry...in impressive words.
