Lately I have been getting a lot of questions in my email regarding vaccinations and Autism. Questions all basically wanting to know if I think that Autism is caused from the vaccinations?
Here is my honest opinion. As a mom to four beautiful children, my youngest is the child with Autism. All have been vaccinated. Is there a chance that vaccines cause Autism? I am sure there is a chance that they could. However I would rather have my child vaccinated then to ever have them endure any of the diseases or health risks that could be associated with not being vaccinated. So if in doubt spread them out. You do not have to have all the shots at one appointment. Be your childs advocate and say I choose to have one at a time two at a time or what ever and that you are willing to come back for the follow up appointments. Easy as that.

Good morning
Well today I woke up and feel a little better than I was feeling the past couple of days. The only downside is my throat is still on fire.
However the sun is shining the birds are singing and the kids are heading off to school.
So what does this mom have planned for today? Funny you should ask or hell even want to know. Well today I am getting ready to do some stuff for the book I have been feverishly writing off and on for the last 18 months. Just when I think I have it figured out there is a change a little change that becomes a significant change. None the less, I will get it done and hopefully sooner than later. I am also going to start my newest fundraiser endeavor which is getting my recipe book written. I have high expectations of what should be in a recipe book so as you can see this is another one of those long drawn out projects of mine.
On a more recent note I have been asked to do a photo shoot of a band that is trying to reunite. I have accepted and think it will be a lot of fun. I love photography and just the thought that the person automatically thought of me to do their photography was honor enough, not only did he ask me do to the band photos but he asked me to do a family portrait. How cool? I am totally psyched.
Okay well this is enough of my morning ramblings. I have many things to get done whether it be a chapter of the book I am writing, a few appetizers for the cookbook, or setting appointments for Katrinkets Momma is busy so off I must go.

Flash Friday 55 (Believe)
Days come and go
friend come and go
there is a saying that
everyone enters your life
for a reason or a season
I believe this
I believe some enter to
challenge us
I believe some enter to encourage
I believe some enter to bring the comic relief.
However I like the ones that are there
for all of it.
I like the ones that can offer a shoulder, a word of advice
a knowing nod, a touch of the hand and I especially love those
that can bring me that much needed comic relief.
I am thankful for all of those people that have remained
my true friends through all of lifes challenges.

Flash Friday 55 (Back in the Day)
A slight breeze blows against me
dandelions dance in the field
The sun shining through
and billowy clouds, that look
like marshmallows high above
my head.
I sit on a wooden swing
fastened to the big oak tree
I can hear other giggling
running, somersaulting
just playing having a great time
Lemon aid, and games of tags
endless hours in the fresh air.
Catching worms and going to
a nearby fishing spot

Ohh one of those dinner table conversations
Youngest Daughter says "Mom, Autumn and I think Ryan looks a little like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and proceeds to giggle." I say, "Really? Really? maybe you want to ask him how he feel about that." Middle daughter says,"Why whats wrong with Rudolph?" I say,"Rudolph's nose was red naturally he wasn't dropped... on his face by his sisters." Both daughters say, "Hmmm ya your right."

Flash Friday 55 (Blackness)
The morning sun peaks through
the fall leaves at their all time high
the smell of coffee wafts in front of my noise
then we hear it, out of nowhere
chatter but who
again I listen as you can
hear something going on
the noise isn't quite clear at first
as it moves closer you see
like little arrows moving from limb to limb
from tree to tree
as if they are gathering food for a feast
or perhaps its a warning
that winter will not be
too nice this year.

Flash Friday 55 things to reflect on or just me rambling
Time comes and time goes. Through the years we make mistakes. The important thing is when you look back you can say, yes I made some mistakes, I have learned and moved forward. You should be able to say I am improving everyday and I will just keep getting better. Wipe away the tears, live life to the fullest challenge yourself everyday, laugh, and love with all your heart and remember that tomorrow is never promised.

Questions about Autism
If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I will most definetly try to answer them as soon as I can. Thanks, Angie
Sometimes
Sometimes we all need to cry
sometimes we all need a hug
sometimes we all need to just let it out
and sometimes just sometimes we need
to say nothing at all.
Sometimes just a look
a smile or a nod
a wink or a wave
can make someones day
Sometimes an escape route
a daydream or two
sometimes just knowing
that it really is okay is enough
Sometimes just sometimes
those unspoken words
the beating of your own
heart, and the look that you see
from those who support you the most
sometimes is all we need.

Autism consumes me
Hi there,
I promised to let everyone know what I have been up to these past months. Well I decided it was time to move forward and start a business that I had been dreaming of. So I did just that. My new business which officially opened on June 30, 2010 is called Katrinkets. Simple Solutions for Stressful Sensory Situations.
For those of you who are not familiar with me, I am a mother to four beautiful children. My youngest is autistic. I have been in the medical field for a long time and I have worked with children as well as adults with various forms and levels of functioning Autism in the past. My son is the one that made me decide to start my own business. Watching him and learning from just observing him has made me a more patient individual a person who can think more outside the box a person who is never ever willing to give up. I look for solutions to make his day more successful as well as everyone who will come in contact with him. My business is wonderful cause I offer many activities out in the community. I have established Yoga classes, a bi weekly bowling league as well as sensory showings at a local movie theater. For those of you who do not know what a sensory showing is well its simple, it means if they need to have dim lights on there will be dim lighting if the volume needs to be adjusted for their sensitive hearing it will be adjusted, if they need to walk around, fidget, and talk they are free to do that.
I also offer kits for Firefighters, police, emts, therapist, teachers, parents, and the child, well quite frankly for anyone who could benefit. The kits for professionals are kits to help them communicate as well as offer comfort to the child. It is truly all in the approach if you are calm and even tempered your results will be a lot better. They need structure and routine. But basically in a nutshell here is what a kit contains and yes you may order these through me and yes they do have a copy right.
The kits:
all come in a binder that act as a white board with a dry erase marker
they all come with a social story and yes you can have more social stories made up
they all come with an emoticon sheet so that if they are non verbal or just not wanting to answer they can communicate by circling their answer
it has a communication sheet
tip sheet for parents
tip sheet for child
and we provide two sensory toys to help with fidgeting and boredom as well as oral stimulation if that is a problem
we do have many other great tools to help with those stressful times. The second half of the business is the center that I am currently still in the process of opening. It will be open a total of 26 hours a week. The goal with the center is to have many activities to help with socialization skills. We will have arts and crafts, plays even for those who are non verbal, music sessions, free play, other services from outside coming in to interact, story telling and imaginative play sessions. So please feel free to reach out to me with questions I would love to hear from you.

Flash Friday 55 (Rain)
A bang and a flash of light
a surge of heat felt throughout
the night.
Then is starts
droplets big at first
warm, slow steady.
Faster it comes down
in a steady stream
the wind picks up
the crackling of the
skies grow more fierce
Oh how I love a good
rain storm.

The Sun. A poem its been awhile I thought I would give it a whirl
Golden Orb so high
Smiling down upon us, glowing
warmth emits on us
Your presence never knowing
will you be shadowed with clouds
or is it a peek a boo type of day
We welcome your warmth
nurturing, us with your rays
Millions of miles away
you still know how to
draw a crowd.
Your blazing beauty
never seems to grow old.
A beautiful site
whose soul duty
is to shine bright
Your beauty is something to behold.

Good morning!
Well good morning everyone!!! I woke up this morning with things on my mind and things that needed to be taken care of. First things first I knew I had to get my butt in gear and start working on another recipe so I did and I have to say it came out quite good. Last week I was featured on a local television for my pumpkin oatmeal cookies. Well here is the recipe.
Ingredients
Your favorite bag of oatmeal cookie mix (I used the Betty Crocker brand) the bag calls for one egg, 1/2 cup of softened not melted margarine or 1/2 a stick of butter that is softened not melted. And one tablespoon of water.
Now for my ingredients that you add in addition to above named ingredients:
2 Tablespoonfuls of pumpkin spice mix
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 capful of cinnamon sugar mix
Mix all of it together. This is a stiff batter and its supposed to be.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Drop them by the teaspoonful onto a cookie sheet and bake for approx. 11-13 minutes or until you see them turn golden around the edges. Enjoy with a nice cold glass of milk.
Just a simple easy way to dress up a bagged mix and get that fall goodness wafting through your house and your tummy!

Photography is one of my hobbies
In the past few weeks we have tackled many things. Camera is always in hand to capture those little moments that can only ever been seen or done once in a lifetime or just to catch those things I really like most. So from apple picking and a day at the park here are a few of my pics. Enjoy!
Ummm NO ohhh god NO and is that possible?
Last week I was featured on a local television show for my pumpkin oatmeal cookies. Following my cooking debut my youngest daughter says,"Mom sugar and spice, and everything nice and chemical X makes Power Puff girls can we try and make that today? Then you can submit that recipe." Omg lol what temp would you have to set your oven does anyone know?
For those not familiar with the PowerPuff Girls that is a picture of the little darlings at the top. Blossom is the pink one, Bubbles is the blue one, and Buttercup is green.

I'm Back!!!
Wow it feels so good to be back and blogging. It may not be the original blog I started with but, its a blog none the less. I have missed everyone and hopefully this will generate some blogging traffic again.
So I have started my own business and that was official on June 30th of this year. So I will fill everyone in as things progress but right now all is going tremendously well.
So sit down grab a cup of coffee and check back with me frequently for sayings of the day, antics of the day and just a peek into my "never a dull moment" blog.
